The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix held on May 25, 2025, was one of the most anticipated races of the season showcasing the breathtaking tight corners and high stakes atmosphere that the Monte Carlo circuit is known for. However, the race took the dramatic turn when a major on track incident occurred between Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari changing the course of the race and leaving the fans in shock.
The collision happened on Lap 52 with Verstappen in the lead and Leclerc trailing in second
both drivers were engaged in an intense battle for position but as they approached the Chicane du Portier, Verstappen attempted an aggressive move on the inside of Leclerc, misjudging the gap. Leclerc who was defending his position moved slightly towards the inside to close off the gap resulting in the two cars making contact. The impact sent Verstappen Red Bull into a spin which ultimately led to him crashing into the barriers on the exit of the corner. Leclerc was able to continue but sustained frond end damage that compromised his ability to challenge for a podium finish. The incident caused a safety car
deployment for several laps as marshals worked to clear Verstappen wrecked car from the track. Both drivers were forced to retire from the race resulting in zero points for Red Bull
